Physical Medicine
Injections: Pain is generally defined as either acute (less than 3 month’s duration) or chronic (greater than 3 months). In the majority of cases of acute pain, conservative care alone is adequate and no additional treatment is needed. Conservative care often involves some combination of rest, activity modification, medication management and physical medicine (i.e. therapy or chiropractic work). If conservative care fails, and the pain becomes chronic (lasting more than 3 months), then injections are often the best treatment option.
Injections are the primary method of treatment utilized by the physicians of Centers for Pain Control. There are a number of different types of injections that can be used for different problems. These can vary by anatomic target(s), the medication(s) utilized, and the duration of benefit expected. All but the most basic injections are performed under x-ray guidance in certified operating rooms. This increases the success rate of these procedures while minimizing the risk of complications such as infections. Additionally, we’re able to offer IV sedation for these procedures which can alleviate (and even eliminate) pain, discomfort, and anxiety often associated with these procedures.
We utilize these injections with several goals in mind:
- To decrease your level of pain
- To increase your level of function
- To minimize the need for medications to control symptoms
- To give you a better quality of life
Your life. Live it well.
